Remove baseboards and trim door jambs if necessary
Spread the membrane following manufacturer’s instructions
Distribute the boards starting in a corner, placing the groove towards the wall and leaving a gap of at least 5/16’’ between the first row and the wall.
Insert the board groove sideways onto the tongue. Be careful not to chip the groove.
Alternate board joints using the third of the length rule.
Use a tapping block and do not forget to use a good saw to avoid chipping the finish.
Installation recommendations for an engineered floor
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installation.
Acclimatize the floor for at least 48 hours before installation.
Level the floor if necessary.
Remove skirting boards and trim door jambs if necessary.
Install the floor preferably perpendicular to the joists.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to install the membrane.
Leave an expansion gap of approximately ½’’ around the room.
Apply the glue on 3 rows at a time to prevent it from drying.
Once the installation is finished, put back the baseboards and install a shoe moulding.
Installation recommendations for a pre-finished hardwood floor
Before taking the floor into the house, make sure that all plastering and painting works have been completed and are dry, and that the humidity level is comprised between 40% and 60%. Acclimatize the floor in the room at least 48 hours prior to installing it.
