Hardwood relative hardness

The relative hardness of all species of wood is calculated based on the Janka hardness test . This test determines the force required to push a small steel ball to half its diameter in different woods . So the relative hardness is the resistance of wood to this depression . The higher the number , the higher the hardwood is dense and resistant to impact.
